Vantage standalone or Live Link

Every animated 3D tree we provide comes in 2 formats: a vrscene file and a 3ds Max file that includes an Alembic file of the animated tree with V-Ray materials. This offers you three methods to work with our trees:

1. Using Vantage Standalone

Drag and Drop: Simply drag and drop the lostminute tree vrscene file into Vantage standalone.

Render Sequence: Once imported, you can render your animation sequence directly.

Recommendation: Based on our years of experience with Vantage, this standalone workflow is the most intuitive and efficient for architectural visualization.

2. Importing vrscene into 3ds Max with Live Link

Import vrscene: Import the vrscene file into your current 3ds Max project.

Rendering: Render your scene using Live Link.

Please Note: The vrscene won't display animation in the 3ds Max viewport, but it will render correctly through Live Link. In Live Link mode, the vrscene doesn't update in real-time when you move it around. You need to have already something animated in your 3ds max viewport, so that live link will render the animated vrscene. These are known bugs that Chaos Group is expected to fix soon.

3. Merging the Max File into Your Project

Merge Files: Drag the 3ds Max file of the animated tree and merge it into your existing 3ds Max project.

Relink Bitmaps: Ensure you relink the bitmaps to load all the textures correctly.

Rendering: After relinking, you can render the scene using Live Link.

Suggested Workflow Steps with Vantage Standalone

  1. Export Main Scene:
    • Export your main architectural scene as a root scene to Vantage.
  2. Build a vrscene Library:
    • Start creating a library of vrscenes by dragging and dropping animated or static vrscenes into Vantage.
  3. Save Vantage Files for Each Clip:
    • For every clip in your archviz films, save a Vantage file (usually less than 1 MB).
    • Name each file according to its content, like "Aerial Orbit" or "Bird's Eye View."
  4. Reloading Scenes:
    • Each time you open a saved Vantage file, it will automatically load all the vrscenes you've added, streamlining your workflow for different clips.

By following this workflow, you can efficiently manage your archviz projects, leveraging the strengths of both Vantage and 3ds Max to produce high-quality animations.
